May 24, 1964 ~ December 9, 2017
With heavy hearts, the family announces the sudden passing of their son, brother and uncle Gary Drebit on Saturday, December 9, 2017.
Gary is survived by his mother Mary, sisters Sharon (John), Rosilyn (Bruce) and Donna, nephews Greg (Vanessa), Matthew (Kyla), Bryan, Jamie (Candice) and Adam, great nephews and nieces Connor, Winter, Mia, Logan and Taylor, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his father Walter in 1978.
Gary worked at Eatons, Staples and currently was employed with the Province of Manitoba. He adored his dogs Lady, Tokkie and Flash, and loved all animals of any kind. Gary enjoyed planting flowers, watching movies, reading, curling and decorating the yard for Christmas.
Gary loved meeting new people and always had to shake their hands. He was great at remembering peoples faces and names, and always took the time to chat.
We would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre, SICU for the great care they gave Gary.
A “Come and Go – Share a Story of Gary” will be held on Saturday, December 16 at the Rennie Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 0R3.

Condolences to Gary’s family. Growing up with Gary as my godfather, I remember how excited and enthused he was whenever we would have a chance to visit. He always took the time to attentively listen and inquire about how you were doing and what was new in your life. He was a great friend to my mother and would frequent concerts in Winnipeg with her and my sister. It is truly too soon, he will be missed by many.
Colleen

Mary and family..our hearts are aching for your sudden loss. Its not the natural circle of life to lose a child. Its not easy to lose a sibling either. Cherish the memories. Hold onto one another sharing tears and laughter..wishing I could be there to share a hug too.

Connie and Lorne
My first memories of Gary were 50 some years ago now when we were just tots and became neighbors. We have been life long friends and enjoyed many concerts, movies and laughs together. We became best friends because of our shared love of dogs and often discussed our treasured dog stories. Lorne and I will cherish the time we had with you. We miss your fun loving personality and big smile. Our deepest sympathies to Gary’s family and friends

Gary’s family will be in my thoughts during this difficult time. He was such a friendly, warm person and was a great friend to my mother. Gary knew how to make people smile and laugh, and he always seemed to be genuinely interested in whatever you had to say. I have fond memories of attending concerts with him, and him helping me get settled and find bus routes in Winnipeg. I will never forget you Gary. You’ll be missed by many people.
