It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle and friend, Franklin on January 3, 2021, who lost his battle to cancer at the Pine Falls hospital at the age of 85.
He is predeceased by his parents Alex and Mary, as well as his brothers Edgar, Jim, Kenny, Albert, Roderick and Frederick; his sisters Martha, Olga and Minnie.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Jane (Gerry), Audrey and Vera (Bill). As well he leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and community members.
Uncle Franklin enjoyed a simple life in Manigotagan. He was a hard worker, who was always willing to help anyone in need. You could always find him chopping wood, cutting grass or shoveling snow. He loved playing bingo, the slots and watching his sports. He also enjoyed attending all the community events and would occasionally show off his jigging skills. Uncle Franklin will be sadly missed, but we take great comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain.
Many thanks to all the family, friends and community members who helped make it possible for Franklin to live in his own home for as long as he did, on his own terms.
A celebration of Franklin’s life will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 between 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Manigotagan Recreation Centre.

Jane, Audrey and Vera, very sad to hear of Franklin’s passing although it has been many years since I have seen Franklin I still have many fond memories from spending our summer holidays in Manigotagan at Grandma’s. Franklin was a frequent visitor and was always willing to go fishing with me down the hill. Franklin always looked out for “Artie’s” boys.

Manigotogan just won’t be the same without Franklin. I’ll always remember him coming to cut grass down the hill for my mom, stopping by for a cup of tea or a cold beer. He always had a funny story to tell. Rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to Franklin’s family and friends.
I have vivid memories of Uncle Franklin from my younger years of spending time at Manigotagan in my Grandma’s home. I can remember seeing him walking towards the house and promptly announcing to everyone “Uncle Franklin is coming!” He was always making my sister and I laugh, by “finding” coins in his ears or in ours. Thinking back, there was a calming presence about him and I just liked being around him.
To all those who are no longer Earth-side, “Uncle Franklin is coming.”

I am very sorry to hear of this! I do wish I could have met this gentleman! I would always compliment on how he kept his yard very clean, and his driveway was always cleared as well, it didn’t matter how much snow there was! I appreciated always his wood pile and how neatly it was split and stacked! Some years it seemed like he was gonna be late but he always managed to get it split and stacked in time before the snow! I looked forward to see if he was stacking or clearing and keeping an eye on how his wood pile would always seem to be just enough till
