Fjola Davidson (Sigurdson)

Fjola Davidson (Sigurdson), aged 84, died peacefully on February 6, 2021, in the Whitemouth Personal Care Home.

Born in Lundar to parents Jon and Margaret Sigurdson, Fjola moved to Winnipeg in the 1950s to study and to work. She married Harley Davidson in 1957, and shortly before her passing they celebrated their sixty-fourth anniversary. Harley survives her.

The couple lived in Selkirk for a few years, before settling permanently in Pinawa in 1963. Here Fjola returned to school to further her education, and worked at a local elementary school before retiring in 1988. Fjola was a passionate supporter of local sports, an avid camper, and a long-time bridge player. All who knew Fjola agree she was an incredibly kind woman, who always looked at the bright side of life despite living with progressive Multiple Sclerosis since the early 1970s. In retirement, she and Harley spent their winters in Arizona where they established a new set of friends. During the final years of her life, she collaborated with her friend Carol in the manufacture of many crochet blankets for charity. Fjola also wanted to give special thanks to Linda, her long-time caregiver at the Pinawa hospital, and to the incredible staff at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home who looked after her so well.

A beloved wife, Fjola was an excellent mother to Andrew Davidson and Susan Krebs (Greg), and a wonderful grandmother to Candace (Ian) and Kimberly Krebs (Thomas), all of whom survive her. Fjola was predeceased by her sisters Evelyn Lesage and Florence Holigroski, and her brother Bob. Her youngest brother Einar survives her, as do several nieces and nephews.

Fjola will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all those whose lives she touched. There will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, donation cheques may be mailed to the Pinawa Public Library, General Delivery, Pinawa MB  R0E 1L0.

I was so sorry to hear of Fjola’s passing. She was such a wonderful woman and a piano student of mine when back when in Pinawa. She was so brave and uncomplaining in her long struggle with MS and really enjoyed the winters she and Harley would spend in Arizona. I would be very jealous reading about their activities on Facebook. When they were no longer able to go, Fjola enjoyed all the sports that she could find on TV. We never had to look anything up as Fjola would announce on Facebook what she would be watching on any particular day. May she rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing to her family and to all who knew her.

Times spent with Aunt Fjola meant lots of good fun and being treated like special guests as kids. As I got older, I understood the special bond she had with my mom and her other siblings. Your mom was beautiful and I’m sorry for your loss❤️

Our deepest sympathy to you all – I can’t imagine how much you will miss your dear mom. I’ve know Fjola since 1963 and whenever we returned to Pinawa, visiting Harley & Fjola was always at the top of my things to do list. She proudly kept us up to date on the comings and goings of her “kids” and didn’t need any coaxing to show us some of her photos of you all. She was a very proud mom and grandma. You are all in our thoughts.

Bill & I want to extend our deepest sympathy to Uncle Harley, Susie, Greg & family, and Andrew. Aunt Fjola never changed in looks from the first day Uncle Harley brought her to meet Mom & Dad until she passed. She was always the same quiet lady and everyone will miss the brave lady she was.
