Evelyn Mary Boulanger (nee Lamoureux) peacefully passed away at Beausejour Hospital on Monday March 20, 2017. She was born on March 31, 1924 in Oak Point Manitoba, the eldest of 6 children to Frank and Minnie Lamoureux.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Louis Boulanger on August 6, 2008. She leaves to mourn her 2 children, Helen (George, deceased), and Earl (Rita), 8 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, as well as her siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was born and raised in Oak Point, Manitoba. Evelyn met a young Belgian fellow named Louis Boulanger and they married on September 29, 1941. Together they raised 2 children, Helen and Earl. They lived in numerous places within Manitoba as well as out of province before settling down in Whitemouth, Manitoba where they enjoyed retirement until they down sized and moved to Lac du Bonnet.
Over the years, Evelyn spent most of her time gardening, baking and working at the Whitemouth Hospital. She was always on the go, helping out wherever she could whether it was babysitting for the neighbors, working in the greenhouse until the age of 80 or volunteering with the ” old people” at the care home (most of which were younger than she was). Evelyn loved to laugh and pull off the odd practical joke but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She touched many lives with her caring spirit, fun loving nature and outgoing personality that so many of us loved.
Honorary pallbearers will be her 8 grandchildren. A celebration of Evelyn’s life will take place on Sunday March 26, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour Manitoba. Private internment will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Evelyn’s memory can be made to the Canadian Blood Services, 777 William Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 3R4.
