One of the most wonderful things about “Pops” as we called him was that he loved so well. He told us he loved us and he showed that he loved us in all that he did for us. Ernie also let us love him back. So, we were able to be honest, and laugh out loud, and hug really hard, and talk about real things together. He was our adopted Dad. He made a big difference in our lives, just as Mom (Denise) did. We moved away but never lost touch and our monthly speaker phone conversations were always joyful events even when we talked about Mom’s health (Mom could make us laugh even when she was sick) and then later, Pops managing without Mom –He’d share with us so honestly. Pops and Mom were both so strong always. So courageous – they inspired us. There is no real comfort to be had that both Pops and Mom are gone other than all the lovely lovely memories that are ours to hold onto now. We can only imagine in our sadness how deep the grief is for you Cindy and the rest of the family. We send condolences to all of you and, as Pops and Mom would have it, our loving thoughts too.
