Edward Bueckert

Posted By Sobering Funeral Chapel On November 4, 2020 @ 3:17 pm In Obituaries | 43 Comments

It is with extreme sadness the family would like to share the passing of Ed Bueckert after a long fight with Ataxia on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

He leaves his wife of 37 years Joanne, his three sons Ken (Tess), Josh, and Calvin (Keely) to remember him.  He is also survived by his brother Ron (Jennie), sister in-law Bev and sister Marlene (Chuck) and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother Rick.

Ed found his special place in Pinawa, close to the bush and water. Hours were spent rowing, biking and skiing when he was not coaching the boys.  He loved coaching hockey and baseball and was always willing to give his time.  His love of music kept him entertained.  He shared that love of music with the boys.

Special thanks to the Whitemouth Personal Care Home for the special care over the past ten years.

Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations may be made to the Pinawa Foundation.

Joanne

My sincerest sympathies to you and your family. I remember Ed from my time at Atomic Energy. He was such a vibrant individual and certainly stood out among his friends and fellow workers. I also remember the day he came in to work and announced that he was engaged. His entire Branch was ecstatic and no one more so than Audrey Graham the secretary. May all your wonderful memories help you through this difficult and stressful time.

Oh Jo. I’m lost for words.

It’s been a long journey and you have loved well. Over the upcoming months I know I will be often thinking prayerfully about you as you adjust to this end and this beginning, I feel very proud of you. Over the years I’ve often seen your van heading out to Whitemouth as I’ve been coming or going on the road , and I always whisper quietly… ” there goes Jo “. Now you will have to get used to not going. I’m sending much love to you and your kids whom I’ve never even met. I don’t live in Pinawa anymore, so I can’t drop off some small offering of love and support. Blessings on you as you grieve together and as you care for your mom as well. Sending much love, Jenny.

Condolence from Trevor Mellors on November 20th, 2020 2:54 pm

Joanne, Ken, Josh and Calvin,

I have a lot of very good memories of Ed especially those burnt into my memory of our many canoe trips from Quetico, through the fast flowing rivers on the east side of Lake Winnipeg and up to York Factory, and especially the Nahanni. I reread some of my trip logs before adding this message to all those added by his many friends. I concluded these trips were the worst of times… and the best of times. Yes a great person, someone you would want to be with in a challenging and hard environment, and any other time!

I will hold these memories dear, and trust your memories will be of all the good times. My condolences to you all.

Trevor

Condolence from Ken and Dianna Neufeld on November 21st, 2020 11:28 am

Our thoughts are with you and the boys. Ed was always full of fun and stories about family. I will always remember the weekend I was fortunate enough to go cross country skiing with him and some of his friends. First time I ever ate pea soup out of can warmed up on an open fire. RIP
