Dennis Albert Ilchyna

Posted By Sobering Funeral Chapel On September 16, 2020 @ 12:36 pm In Obituaries | 13 Comments

April 17, 1954 – September 13, 2020

Dennis will be forever remembered by his wife Janet of 43 years; son Kevin, daughter-in-law Lisa; grandchildren Lennon & Weston; his Great Pyrenees dogs Rocky and Sydney, as well as Buster the cat.  He leaves behind his brothers and sisters as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dennis was predeceased by his father and mother Albert & Audrey Ilchyna, father-in-law & mother-in-law Frank & Beth Reynolds, brother-in-law Craig Zacharias & nephew Clint Ilchyna.

Dennis met a lot of great friends throughout his career with Winnipeg Livestock Sales and Manitoba Housing.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hosting pool parties at their home in Anola and at their cottage on Pinawa Bay.  He looked forward to the weeklong lake party in July.  We will all miss his fire side stories.

In his last few years, he devoted all his free time to his grandchildren.  They were the highlight of his life.  They loved him so much.

His last wish was to have a private celebration with the Ilchyna band playing and all the children dancing, to be hosted at a later date.

In honor of his memory, a donation can be made in his name, to the Manitoba Great Pyrenees Rescue @ mgprescue@gmail.com.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Dennis. Our thoughts are with the entire family, and may you all find strength during this difficult time. Meeting with Dennis, he would always greet us with the friendliest of smiles and just knew how to make a person feel welcome. Seeing the joy on his face was evident when ever his family and friends were all around. There is no doubt you’ll be missed by so many. May you rest in peace in Dennis.

Condolence from Cheri Reeve on September 17th, 2020 9:31 am

I had the pleasure of working with Dennis for a number of years at Manitoba Housing. He was one of my favorite people. His love and commitment to his family was evident to everyone who met him and he was the type of person who made you feel good just by his presence. We laughed, we joked and now we mourn his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with Janet and their family. There are no words that I can think of that will alleviate the pain they are feeling right now. Hopefully in time, the memories that are so gut wrenchingly painful right now will provide some comfort and perhaps even a smile. Dennis was the kindest man I knew. I will miss him.
