Our family announces the unexpected passing of our son, brother, and uncle, David Ledarney, who left this earth on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at age 42.
David is survived by his mom and dad, Liz (Betsy) and Mitcheal; sister Angie; niece Gabby; and his sweet dog, Jagger; as well as many loving family and friends. David is predeceased by Grandma and Grandma, Dave and Helen Friesen; and Baba and Grandpa, Nancy and Alex Ledarney; uncles Sonny and Leonard; and auntie Delilah; as well as his beloved cat, PJ.
David was born on February 11, 1981 in Winnipeg. As a small child, David quickly learned to run before he walked, bumping into things and laughing loud. David’s family moved to a farm near Beausejour when he was young. At age 5, his dad bought him his first dirt bike which would remain his passion all of his life. It was also at age 5 that David invited Jesus into his heart.
Racing and Motocross was a big part of David’s life. David loved to teach kids how to ride. When he was on the track, he was known as a fierce and fun competitor. He loved to put on a good show for the crowd. A few years ago, David constructed an MX racetrack on his farm. The track became well known and was enjoyed by many. After the race David was known to have a good laugh with his MX family.
David was passionate and talented at everything he did. He loved his family and he loved farming with his dad. He will always be remembered for his big laugh, the teasing he did, and how he joked around. We rarely saw him without a smile on his face.
For several years, David had been honestly and openly fighting addictions. It was on David’s heart to be delivered from addictions and to help others be delivered. Through his ups and downs, he never stopped loving God and wanting to help people.
David’s death was caused by cardiac arrest due to drug use. His death was unexpected and unintentional.
David loved God so much. We are so happy that he is now with his first love, in his forever happy place, healed and whole.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., with viewing at 10:00 a.m., at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour, MB.

Mitchell, Betsy, Ang and Gabi, I’ve been praying God sends the Comforter to you and that He hovers over you with His peace, mercy and loving kindness.
David was kind and had a heart of gold. I remember being seated beside him at his grandpa’s funeral and how he served me with such excellence. David knew my breathing was compromised at that time, and so he took it upon himself to bring me a plate of food. His conversation matched his kindness. Satan stole David’s body, but he couldn’t steal his soul. David is safe in the arms of Jesus!

I competed against Dave when we were much younger. we then connected later in life when he opened his property for my kids to ride. Dave was always smiling and truly loved seeing others enjoy his track and the work he had put in. He was a very generous man and will be missed dearly. Thanks for the good times Dave.

What a beautiful tribute to David. He was so full of life. In his passing he left behind a hole in the hearts of so many people- just as much as he lit up their lives in life.
I wish so desperately to be able to say or do the right thing to take your pain away even though I know it is futile. I pray that you find reprieve from your grief to access the loving memories you shared with David. I trust your faith will carry you through. Our deepest condolences.
