It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Danny McCooeye on November 15, 2013. Remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife Patti of 44 years, his children Kelly (Trevor), Kyle (Meredith), his two grandsons Tristan and Finn. Danny will also be missed by his mother Vivian McCooeye, sister Sandra de Souza, brother David McCooeye (Mary), mother-in-law Anne Laine, sister-in-law Glenda Hannah, brother-in-law Robert Laine (Suzanne), all his nieces and nephews, all his remaining aunts, uncles and cousins, and family friends. Danny was predeceased by his father Donald McCooeye, father-in-law Levi Laine and brother-in-law Phillip de Souza.
Dad was a special, kind man who was always there when you needed him. He met the love of his life in London, Ontario and brought his new bride to Beausejour to continue his varied career with AECL. Not that they would remain in one town or one house for very long. Someone was always asking when they were going to get that house on wheels. Dad loved his quiet naps in the sunroom, sunning on the cruise ship, and enjoying his grandsons. We appreciate all you have done and taught us. We love you so much and will miss you dearly.
We would like to thank the Beausejour Paramedics and the staff at Selkirk General Hospital for doing all they could for Dad. Thank you to Sobering Funeral Chapel for their support and guidance through this difficult time. A private family service will take place at a future date.

Dear Patti,Kelly, Kyle and family,
I knew Danny when I work at AECL in Pinawa and we met again at AECL, ChalkRiver. Please know that my prayer is that God will provide comfort for all, in this time of saying good bye. I have fond memories of Danny and his great sense of humor and at the same time, he was someone you could confide in. Please accept my heart felt condolence.
So very sad to hear of Danny’s passing. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. If there is anything we can do please do not hesitate to contact us at 204-753-2442. It is with heavy hearts we say a fond farewell to a very dear friend.
Really going to miss the talks and everything else, little Bud. Your on a better voyage now. Enjoy and will see you again.

Danny was a good brother; his passing will leave an ongoing void in our lives.
Condolences from Mary and I to the McCooeye family and to all others who were touched by Danny’s presence.
I am so sad for your loss. I worked with Danny when you returned to MB around 1989/90 in the Combustion lab (with Calvin Chan). We shared an office, worked closely together, and became good friends: Danny taught me many things – from technical to how to survive AECL to life lessons. I often reminisce about our times in the lab.

It has been many years since I have seen my cousin Danny. I send my condolences to Pat and the rest of the family. He will be greatly missed. Just like his father, too young gone. Thinking of you all. Amy
We were shocked and saddened by the news of the sudden passing of Danny. Although I had little contact with him at AECL, I came to know him through his work with FSNA, the association of federal retirees. Danny’s diligent work in digitizing our old FSNA records was much appreciated. We will miss him.

It was with sadness that we read of Danny’s sudden passing. He was a pleasure to work with at Whiteshell Laboratories and his wide knowledge in so many areas was a definite asset in the metallurgical research that we worked on together. We send you heart felt condolences.
