Condolences for the family of “Cathy Adriane Day (nee Merke)”

Condolence from Michelle Eramchuk on January 8th, 2019 5:54 pm

Adriane was a ray of sunshine welcoming patients to the Selkirk chemotherapy dept. Her infectious laugh and kind soul helped many people through a difficult time. As a friend and co-worker, she could be counted on for warm cup of coffee, an ear that listened without judgment, and a soft hug if required.
I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Adriane‘s family. I feel that I know you from all of the stories we have heard. Your mom’s face lit up with pride whenever she spoke about all of you. She was so excited to have everyone home for Christmas. I’m glad you have those cherished memories with your beautiful mother.

To all of Adriane’s Family I extend my most sincere and heartfelt sympathy. She was taken from this earth tragically and far too soon. I last spoke with her at her sister Bernice’s Service. I will always remember her as my best friend’s cute little sister. She is now in heaven with her family that passed before her and they will surround her with their love.

Love,
Margit MacCharles (nee Kunz)

I had the great pleasure of first meeting with Adriane when she started her position with Cancer care in Selkirk. It was a wonderful fit. She had a smile that was genuine and was friendly to staff and patients alike. Even though our paths didn’t cross often I always looked forward to talking to her on the phone – her cheerful voice always made patients feel like they were a priority. She always made you feel like you were a lifelong friend. She had brightened many lives and it has left a so many saddened. My deepest condolences to her family, friends and co-workers.

I can’t say how much I regret not being able to come support you all and help relieve your pain of loss. I held Adrianne high on my favourite list and was very happy for you uncle Dave when you married this kind caring soul. I noticed right away Adrianne took a sincere interest in others, always smiled, and gave me comfort, support and encouragement. She is the cool aunt I’ll never forget and missed when our family got together and I’d ask for an update how everyone was. My entire heart and soul is with you all.

We were saddened to hear of Adrian’s sudden passing. We met Adrian when my husband started treatment at Selkirk Cancercare. She was a ray of sunshine, so full of warmth. She was caring and compassionate and had the sweetest personality. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you go through this difficult time. “Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one’s gone. Those we love can never be more that a thought apart. For as long as there is a memory, they’ll live on in our hearts.”

Judy, Valerie, Kenny, Gordon, Rose and your families

Our deepest condolences on the loss of Adriane, such a shock to hear this.
I think of the memories growing up with Adrienne, all of us cousins gathered at weddings and after church and impromptu visits we had on just regular farming days, recalling all the fun we had. It was nice to re-connect with Adriane through the 100 Year Merke Reunion. Adriane was a very wonderful person.

Words are never enough, but may it help to know, you are all in our family members thoughts during this saddest of times.

Love, Frank and Cindy (Merke) Behnke

Condolence from Sharon Merke Urdahl on January 12th, 2019 4:38 pm

Dear Cousins,
Sending our deepest sympathy to you all on the tragic and sudden loss of Adrian. We are so grateful we had the opportunity to meet and share time with Adrian and all of you at the Merke family reunion in 2013. She was such a creative, lovely person and I remember her beautiful smile and warm welcoming hugs and the part she played in helping to prepare our family history book and presenting the “Merke “Journey to Canada” skit at the reunion. I pray that you all will find comfort in knowing how much she was loved and respected by those who knew her even from at a distance. May the difficult days ahead be softened with your sweet memories of a loving, caring mother, wife, grandmother and delightful woman, who will be missed by many. Love, Hans and Sharon (Merke) Urdahl and family Comox, B.C.
