With sadness we announce the passing of our father, papa, brother, and uncle, Casmir Walter Szajewski, on Monday, March 2, 2020 at Beausejour Hospital, Beausejour, MB.
Cas was born on April 9, 1939 at the family homestead in Cromwell, MB. He is survived by his children Tim (Kelly) and Michelle (Anita); grandchildren Jenna and Brady; sisters Rose, Cecilia, Helen, as well as his nieces and nephews. Cas was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Lou, brother Joseph, and parents Michael and Mary Szajewski.
Cas raised his family in Beausejour while he worked in Stores at AECL in Pinawa for 35 years. His summers were filled with gardening and family vacations, and his winters were spent as a devoted follower of Tim and Michelle’s hockey and ringette. He often had a camera in his hand, and loved to take pictures of family outings and nature. He served his community for 21 years as fire fighter/chief of the Beausejour Volunteer Fire Department. He was a dedicated parishioner of his church and member of the Knights of Columbus.
In retirement he was ready at a moment’s notice to help out with the grandchildren and he and Mary Lou became avid square dancers. His greatest role was as caregiver to Mary Lou when she fell ill. He never left her side, caring for her at home and continuing to assist in her daily care when she eventually moved to East Gate.
We would like to thank Dr. Schmidt and the Beausejour Hospital staff for the care and compassion shown to Dad and our family.
Prayer Services will be Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 516 Atlantic Avenue, Beausejour MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Beausejour Hospital T.V. Fund.
Offer Condolence for the family of Casmir Walter Szajewski

We will remember Cas’s smile and soft spoken character. We had some of our most memorial times on the Fire Department when Cas was chief. We think of those days often.

Tim Kelly and family, and Michelle & Anita, our deepest sympathy to you all on the loss of your father. I worked with Cas for many years in Stores up to his retirement, and we kept in touch since then. He would send me pictures of the crocheted angels i made, and gave to your Mom & Dad, and that they were up, and enjoyed each Christmas. Now he and your Mom are together again enjoying each others company. Sorry we were unable to attend the funeral. Sincerely Dennis & Rosalie Lofstrom
