Carol Lyn Weselak (nee Kubesh)

1946-2023

On August 26, 2023 with her family by her side Carol peacefully went to her eternal home at the age of 77.  She will be dearly missed by her loving husband Ernie, children Cheryl (Darren), Tracey (Darcy), Tim (Sheri), Jeff (Karen) and Todd (Karen).  Her brother Ken (Mary), grandchildren Brady (Erin), Kayla (Mitchell), Tim, Jenna (Jesse), Megan (John), Ashley (Jason ), Stacey (Kevin), Nolan (Erin), Anthony (Lisa), Michael (Michele), Mercedes (Austin), Shania (Jesse), Lucas, and Katie.  Great Grandchildren Liam, Melody, Grayson, Calla, Mason, Leo, Brexten and Anniston.  Her special niece and nephew Llana (Shane), Jon’Nathon (Ashley), and great niece Holiday.  Brother in -law Leonard (Eleanor), sister in-laws Audrey and Joyce.

Carol was predeceased by her parents Lillian and Ralph Kubesh, her sister Teresa and her mother and father in-law Edward & Kay Weselak.  Brother in-laws Douglas, Edward Weselak and Paul Letwin.

Carol was born and raised in Beausejour and in 1961 her family moved to Ladywood, where she would make many beautiful memories with her brother Ken and sister Teresa.

In April of 1964 she married Ernie and moved onto the Weselak farm in Ladywoood where they would raise their 5 children and watch their grandchildren grow for 59 years.  When Carol settled on the farm with Ernie little did she know at the time that she would not only be a mom to her children but also become like a second mom to many other children.  Her natural ability to show kindness and compassion made it easy for people to lean on her.  In 2008 Carol & Ernie celebrated the Weselak farms 100th Centennial.  Carol planned a grand event that she was sure to invite all their family and friends to, as she was proud to apart of the Weselak Legacy.

Carol loved flowers, gardening and farming with Ernie.  You could say she had a real green thumb.  She spent lots of time in the garden with Ernie planting and harvesting their vegetables and fruit.  Her freezer was always full of the bounty of their labours.

As a young girl she loved watching and playing sports.  Baseball, hockey, football and bowling these were her sports of choice.  She started playing baseball on the local Ladywood team while she was in school and would continue throughout the years to play on various other teams with her daughters Cheryl and Tracey.   Carol wanted to stay active in the winter so of course joining the local bowling leagues with Cheryl and Tracey made the most sense, she could spend time with her daughters and socialize with her friends all while being active.  She enjoyed hockey so she was sure to enroll her boys Tim, Jeff and Todd at a very young age.  Being a hockey mom meant she would spend many hours on the road driving the boys to games and practices.  Carol could always be found cheering on her favourite teams the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Winnipeg Jets or the Toronto Blue Jays but the teams she most enjoyed cheering for were the ones her grandchildren and great grandchildren played on.  She was proud to see her love of hockey carried on thru the generations.

Traveling and staying active was important to Carol.  Over the years she would have the opportunity to travel with her friends Louise, Audrey and Shannon to various places such as China, Egypt, Cairo, Scotland, Greece, England, Switzerland, Rome, Uk, Ireland, Paris, Niagara Falls, and Toronto.  Her and Ernie visited British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, Texas and Nashville.   Of course, she always enjoyed her trips to Florida to visit with Ken & Mary in the winter and she would always be sure to fit in a visit with Ernie’s nephew Tim while she was there.  Being fit and walking was an activity Carol prided herself on as she continued to walk 4 miles, twice a week with her friend Janet till the end.

The last 6 months of Carol’s life were a testament to the true strength and courage she carried within her.  Always remaining positive, hopeful and grateful for all the support she received from her family & friends.

We would like to send a very special thank you to the Stonewall hospitals nursing staff and doctors for all the care and kindness they gave to Carol and our family.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour with viewing one hour prior to the service.

Donations maybe made to the charity of your choice in Carol’s name.
