Bruce Michael Pihulak

Posted By Sobering Funeral Chapel On September 24, 2019 @ 2:44 pm In Obituaries | 11 Comments

It is with deep sorrow I announce the passing of my beloved husband Bruce Pihulak on September 7, 2019 at the age of 65.

Bruce will be sadly missed by his wife of 21 years, Louise Fortier, and is survived by his brothers Don Pihulak (Liz) of Armstrong, Jim Pihulak of Calgary and extended family.

Bruce grew up in Lockport and later moved with his family to Lac du Bonnet, MB in 1964.  He worked as a power engineer at Whiteshell Labs for over 32 years until he retired in 2007.  Bruce was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting through the years.  He was also a talented craftsman and skilled in the art of making snowshoes.  Bruce learned how to play the guitar and his love of music continued to be an important part of his life.

Bruce was also a loving husband who enjoyed spending time together as a couple.  He was a happy man with a keen sense of humour and had a number of lifelong friends in the community.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Bruce on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Epilepsy and Seizure Association of Manitoba, a charity he supported. https://www.manitobaepilepsy.org/

Boy, the sorrow just keeps on coming. What a friendly genuine soul Bruce was.
I’m gonna miss his sly humor and infectious laugh.
Would always meet him in the hunting field for the lowdown on the conditions and our chances of success as he was always willing to help out in any way possible.
Gone way to frickin early…….. Wonder whose gonna do the whistling now…..

Condolence from George GIBSON on December 17th, 2019 9:54 pm

Wendy and I are so saddened to hear that Bruce has passed away. I regret that we fell out of touch as we did. I have such fond memories of Bruce as a friend and as a co-worker in the Powerhouse. He was so even tempered and his sense of humour so entertaining (though I often had to puzzle before smiling). The old days of betting bitter tarts were good days. So reliable and helpful both at work and at home. I hope you stay well Louise and find some comfort in the many, many warm and loving memories you must have. George and Wendy
