In Memorial

1947 – 2020

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved  Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother and Uncle William (Bill) Franklin Joyce, who passed away at Kin Place on May 18, 2020.

Left to mourn his passing is his beloved wife of 44 years Audrey (nee Coates) Joyce, his two children Chris (Kelly) and Tracey.  He is survived by his grandchildren Autumn, Jesse and Hunter.  He leaves his two brothers John (Carol) and Robert (Janny).

William was an RCMP Corporal who served in Manitoba and Ontario.  He worked as a bodyguard for Pierre Trudeau and Lester B. Pearson.  He had many stories to tell.  He worked during the FIQ crisis.

He loved to tell stories and was a devoted family man.  He retired in 1997 and resided in Whitemouth.  He got bored so he spent his retirement years working for the Winnipeg Sheriff’s Office.

As per Bill’s request cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place once we are able to gather.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Condolence from Colin Stark on May 21st, 2020 7:45 pm

Bill was my first Cpl. He always had a story to tell and almost always had you in stitches laughing. I will always remember him for his infectious laugh, smile, and that snub nose 38 revolver he used to carry on duty. My condolences to your family for your loss. Billy left us all with a lot of great memories. He will be missed.

Condolence from Patrick Madden on May 22nd, 2020 10:55 am

Dear Audrey and family,
I am very sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. I know he will be missed.
I remember the first time I met him was on a dive recovery operation in the Whiteshell. After the recovery he invited the team back to Whitemouth for dinner. Later on, I took over Whitemouth Detachment. Bill was already retired and lived around the corner from the Force housing where I lived. Bill and Audrey pretty much opened their house and hearts to me anytime. It was much appreciated, although my tenure in Whitemouth was short lived,
My deepest condolences and best wishes.
Pat Madden
