1927 ~ 2017
Bert Dawson passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the age of 89 years, with his family by his side.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Audrey; his children, Sheldon (Nirdosh) of Warren, MB, Corinne (Tom) of Calgary, AB, Wanda (Kerry) of Beausejour, MB, and Brian (Claire-Anne) of Hay River, NWT; his grandchildren, Stacy (Tammy), Evan, Chris (Julie), Kurtis (Chelsea), Lindsey (Colin), Carleen (Logan), and Georgia; five great-grandsons and one great great-grandson.
Bert was predeceased by his parents, Egbert & Corinne Dawson; his brother Bob Dawson of Kamloops, BC; and his sister Mabel Leaf of Winnipeg, MB.
Bert grew up in Winnipeg and attended Riverview, Lord Roberts and Kelvin schools.
He married Audrey Gray in 1952 and they raised their family in Winnipeg on Walker Avenue. They moved to Gimli for a short period of time before settling in Beausejour in 1974.
Bert will be remembered for his true passion for hunting, making countless trips to Netley Marsh and Hamiota with his dad and chums Barry Williamson and Harold Gregg.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Ave. E., Beausejour, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bert’s memory to the Parkinsons Society of Manitoba or the Beausejour Library.
