January 11, 1927 – April 26, 2017
On April 26th, 2017 our wonderful, tenderhearted dad and grandfather left this world to be with his Heavenly Father. Art leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Janice (Garry) Schellenberg, grandsons Kevin, Kyle (Michele), great-grandchildren Javan, Yana, Atira, many nieces & nephews, and special loving friend Evelyn Perkins. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Maryann Kidner, Edith, his wife of 68 years, sisters Chris, Fran and Jean.
Art worked for the CN for 40 years as a carman. He loved to escape to their cottage in the Whiteshell with his family and friends. Later he moved to Pinawa where he enjoyed spending time with his family and making many new friends. He was a dedicated family man whose love and devotion will always be cherished.
Art was an enthusiastic gardener and enjoyed sharing his best blooms with others. He loved to bake cookies and often surprised those he cared about with a fresh batch. Art had a strong faith in Jesus and loved to attend church. He made many friends at Abundant Life Baptist Church where he was fondly known as “Uncle Art”.
A celebration of Art’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the Buntain Chapel in Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave St, Wpg, MB. Pastor Brad Quiring officiating. If friends so wish, donations in his memory can be made to Union Gospel Mission, 320 Princess St, Wpg, MB, R3B 3C7.
The family would like to thank all those who attended to Art’s care in his final days.
