It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend Anita Valderaise Borlase at the Pine Falls Hospital on May 4, 2021 at age 83.
Anita will be lovingly missed by her husband Bill of 60 years, her sons Guy (Bonnie), Craig (Gloria), grandchildren Ben, Hayden, Sydney, Quinn, and Sarah, sister Elaine, and brothers Darcy (Angela), Craig (Jackie) and sisters in-law Shirley and Joanne (Dave). Anita was predeceased by her parents Rusty and Valeraise Clarkson and brother Allan.
Anita was born in Sioux Lookout Ontario in 1937, but moved to Dauphin soon after when her dad Rusty was transferred by the CN railroad. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Dauphin before moving to Fort Frances Ontario at the age of 19 where she met Bill. Anita and Bill were married in Fort Frances in 1961 and moved to Pine Falls in 1968 when Bill accepted his first teaching position. Pine Falls was where they called home, where they raised their two sons and resided for the next 50 years. Anita was well known in the area, she worked for the Royal Bank in Pine Falls and Lac du Bonnet, was heavily involved in her sons’ sports teams, but her passion was volunteering in and for the community. Anita used her passion to volunteer on numerous boards and organizations including the Pine Falls Golf Club, the Pine Falls Curling Club, the Powerview Catholic Church, and the most dearest to her heart, the Pine Falls Hospital Ladies Health Auxiliary.
What we will miss most about Anita is her kind, caring, giving heart and beautiful smile. Anita cared deeply for her family and friends, she was a doting wife and mother and an amazing grandmother. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for others. She enjoyed hosting happy hours on the deck, sewing hundreds of quilts for all the newborns, planting flowers, laughing, and living life to its fullest.
Thank you to Dr. Abisheva and the Pine Falls Hospital staff for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pine Falls Hospital Ladies Health Auxiliary c/o Kim Bonekamp Box 143 St.Georges, MB R0E 1V0 or the Pine Falls Golf Club Flower Bed Fund, Pine Falls Golf Club Box 298 Pine Falls, MB R0E 1M0.
As per Anita’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Catholic service and celebration of life will take place at a later date when friends and family are able to gather to share memories of a lady so dear to our hearts.
