Allana Noreen Simard

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our sister, Allana, on January 1, 2024.

Allana was born on June 17, 1957 in Bissett, Manitoba and raised in Manigotagan.  She attended Bad Throat School and later attained her Bachelor of Social Work from the Indian Federated College in Saskatoon.  She spent many years in the education field and enjoyed working with youth in different settings throughout her life. January 4, 2024 would have marked Allana’s 40th year of sobriety.

She was predeceased by her parents, Alex (1999) and Mary Jane (2016) Simard, her grandparents, Margaret and Louis Simard, Margaret and George Bushie and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  She is also predeceased by her siblings Larry (1991) his wife Elaine (2017), Rudy (2013) his wife Geri (2016), Darlene (2014) and Freeman (2015) and sister-in-law Jean Christy (2017).

Allana is survived by her seven siblings, brothers Charles (Marilyn), Leon, Reginald (MJ McCarron), Laver; her sisters Rhonda (Brent) Hardisty, Amanda (Jerry Parsons) and Sandra Simard. She is also survived by her aunties Val (Peter) Monique, Linda Bushie and Gladys as well as Uncles Bradley Bushie, Charlie Kovari, brother-in-law Don MacLellan and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Allana was an avid photographer and collector.  She enjoyed yard work and music and was forever busy in the community and church.  In her retirement years she enjoyed the company of her faithful dog Biege.

Many thanks to brothers Leon and Laver for all the love and compassion he showed towards our sister.

Wake service will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. with Funeral Services to be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.  Both services will be held at the Manigotagan Recreation Center.

Active pallbearers will be Allana’s brothers Charles, Leon, Reginald and Laver; her nephews Wayne Simard and Vince Kuzdak.

Honourary pallbearers will be Flora Bushie, Kathy Bjork, Marion McKenzie, Sally Dear, Helen Thomas, Marilyn McNish, her sisters Amanda, Rhonda, Sandra and all her church family.

God grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change,
the COURAGE to change the things I can
and the WISDOM to know the difference.
