1943-2018
Allan (Al) Freund passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Beausejour Hospital.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lorine, (Krieger), his sons, Mark Freund and Jason Freund, his granddaughter Megan, his great grandson Nathan, his step children, Brad West, Allan (Diana) West, Debbie (Rob) Ravestein, his step grandchildren, Justin West, Austin West, Ashley Ravestein, Maddie Ditchfield-West and Morgan Ditchfield-West; his brother Greg Freund and brother-in-law Barry Gromnisky, his nieces and nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents William Freund and Helene Freund, and his sisters, Sandra Gromnisky and Carol Freund.
Allan was born in Beausejour, Manitoba on November 20, 1943. He worked for CP Rail as Diesel Electric Supervisor at Weston Shops until his retirement in 1997 after 35 years. After his retirement, he still wanted to keep busy, so he started his own handyman work, as “No Job Too Small”. He was very active at Dr. Jessie Saulteaux Centre for many years, until he decided that it was time to really retire in 2006. He was very active on Zion Lutheran Church Council and really, really liked playing his guitar and singing. His voice was just so awesome. He could hardly wait till spring time when it was time to start the tomato seeds in the house and later plant them in the garden. He was already talking about starting his seeds come April. The garden was his pastime after his retirement.
A very big thank you to all the Doctors, nurses and staff at the Beausejour Hospital. You are totally amazing. Thank you.
As per Allan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Bart Coleman officiating. Interment at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers for Granpa/Bumpa will be Megan, Justin, Austin, Ashley, Maddie & Morgan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Box 968, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0 or to a Charity of your choice.
