1922 ~ 2013
Peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2013. Alfred Witzke, aged 91 years, passed away at East Gate Lodge, Beausejour.
Alfred was born in the R.M. of Brokenhead on March 24, 1922. He grew up in the Green Bay District. He married Helen Lentz in 1956. They farmed for many years. Alfred also worked in construction and carpentry for several years. They moved to Beausejour in 1988 but continued to farm a little and garden a lot. Helen passed away in 2001. Alfred moved to East Gate Lodge in 2010.
Alfred will be missed by sons Alf (Margo) and Robert (Debbie); grandchildren Jason (Nicole), Krista (Darin), and Aaron; great grandchildren Alek, Emily, Wren, and Bodan; sister Nora Recksiedler, sisters in-law Helen Eleanor Witzke and Evelyn Lentz; brother in-law Bernie Lentz (Barbara); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Special thanks to the staff at East Gate Lodge for their exceptional care.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 403 First St. N., Beausejour with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, if family and friends so wish, donations may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to East Gate Lodge.
