Sandra Ramsay, age 71, of Pinawa, Manitoba, passed away December 6, in Pinawa Hospital after a short, fierce battle with cancer. Sandra battled this disease and left this world showing amazing strength, courage and grace.
She is predeceased by her loving husband, Alex and her parents, Alice and James McAuslane. It brought Sandra great peace knowing that she would be reunited with them again.
Sandra has left to mourn her siblings, Irene (John), Allison, and Stuart (Janice), her dear aunt, Janie Hodge, cousin, Marion Hodge and many other additional beloved relatives and friends in Scotland. She also leaves to mourn her children Frazer (Jen) and Kirsten (Melisse), treasured grandchildren Angelique and Gavin and great grandson, Owen. She will be sadly missed by friends, neighbors, as well as members of her church and community.
Sandra was born on December 12, 1942 in Scotland. She ventured to the USA and eventually Canada in the 60s and settled in Pinawa, Manitoba. Sandra found a place to call home and a community to call family in Pinawa. She worked at AECL and absolutely loved her job and her coworkers. She was devoted to her children and family as well and her friends and neighbours spending her time caring supporting and doing what she could to enhance their lives.
You would often find Sandra sipping on her wine, visiting with neighbours, planning her winter vacations or looking for bargains in the stores. Sandra will be remembered as a loving, caring, and social person who filled her days with smiles, joy and optimism. We will all miss her love, her smile and her general zest for life.
We wish to thank the wonderful, compassionate staff of the Pinawa Hospital for the excellent care and support they have gave to Sandra as well as to our family. We also wish to thank Dr. Bruneau and Dr. Papetti for the extraordinary care they provided throughout Sandra’s battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. at FW Gilbert School in Pinawa, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Pinawa Health Auxiliary, Box 82, Pinawa, Manitoba R0E 1L0.

Sandra was a very courageous optimistic soul. She will be missed.
Sandra was one of the first people to welcome me to Pinawa, enthusiastic and cheery. Condolences to her family and particularly to Frazer and Kirsten, whom she loved dearly.
Dear Frazer Kirsten and family,
I was so very sorry to hear of Sandra’s passing yesterday. I am sorry I heard so late otherwise I would have been at the service. I loved your Mum and Dad, they were both wonderful people and we certainly had some good times together. I will miss all the funny e-mails and all the humour we shared. I will miss Sandra a great deal.. Y condolesences to you all.
