February 21, 1940 ~ June 29, 2023
Loving husband, father and grandfather, Ad (Adolph) Zerbin of Pinawa, MB, passed away peacefully at age 83, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (nee Wooden), children Lisa (Mark), Wendy (Richie), Dan, and Michelle (Richard), grandchildren Trent, Reanne (Jordan), Jordan, William (Angela), Emmi, Shaelyn, and Aliya, brother Henry (Megan), and sister Trudy. He is predeceased by brothers John and Ed.
Ad was born in Poland of the late Emil and Wanda Zerbin, and emigrated with his parents and siblings to Winnipeg at the age of 7. He attended the University of Manitoba and became an electrical engineer. He met Barbara, a nursing student at the St. Boniface School of Nursing, and they married July 5, 1963. He started his career at Bell Canada in North Bay, Ontario, then took a position at AECL in 1967, where he remained until retiring in 1994. Ad and Barb settled in Pinawa, raising their four children there, and developing many close and long-lasting friendships.
Ad and his family were part of the Pinawa Lutheran Church in which Ad was involved in the building committee and the Sunday School program. For many years he was an active member of the Lions Club and the Pinawa Golf and Curling Club executive.
Ad’s father built a cottage at Red Rock Lake in the Whiteshell. The family spent many summers there, hosting friends, extended family, and hockey and Sunday School windups. He enjoyed swimming, fishing, canoeing, berry picking, and many a night playing cards and laughing around the fire.
Ad was an avid runner, and completed 25 consecutive Manitoba marathons as well as the Boston, Twin Cities, and the Hawaii Marathon to name a few.
Ad and Barb loved camping and took the family on many memorable trips. They continued their camping adventures after the kids left home, outfitting a camper-van and traveling with friends and relatives across Canada and the States.
Ad loved to travel with Barb and went on cruises and vacations to many destinations around the world. Ad would take countless photos which he put onto slides. He would host viewing parties which were enjoyed (endured) by all. Over the years, Ad often loved reminiscing through the photos, and his family is grateful to have these lasting memories that they will continue to share with his grandchildren. Ad was always thankful for his family, friends, and many blessings.
The family would like to thank the Pinawa Lac du Bonnet Homecare ladies who cared for him so well and brightened his days. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or a charity of choice.
As per Ad’s wishes, a private graveside family service will be held.

Dear Barb and family
So sorry Ad has passed. I remember when you and Ad and started family moved to Pinawa. My memories of Ad really started at the Pinawa Curling Club – a second home to many of us in those days. He was also my last Branch Manager at AECL. He always had an impish smile sand greeting whenever we met. Yes, he and others, Definitely wore a path down 211 and various routes in Pinawa. Ad was definitely one of the many pillars of the Pinawa “family” who will be missed but remembered
