Adele Blomquist, 83, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2019.
She is survived by her son Glenn, daughters, Sharon (Sheldon) and Claudia, grandsons, Keegan (Megan) and Eathan (Jocelyn), brother Leon, sister Irene, and her cats, as well as a large extended family.
She was predeceased by her first husband Brownie Byczek, second husband Daniel Blomquist, parents, Helen and Frank Bruneau, and her twin brother at birth.
With every medical timeline she had been given in her life, Mom proved the doctors wrong and lived a full life for over 83 years.
She was active in the local horticultural society, and the Catholic Women’s League, and was a Brownie leader for many years. She was a huge Stompin’ Tom Connor fan and, through no fault of their own, her children know the words to all his songs. She attended his concerts any time he was within driving distance, including one memorable trip to Portage la Prairie in a snowstorm. Mom enjoyed visiting Las Vegas and made the trip many times with family and friends. Through the magic of solar lights, her yard bore a strong resemblance to The Strip. Mom was interested in a variety of professional sports and loved attending Bomber games with Claudia. We’re so happy that she got to watch them win the Cup. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164 was the centre of Mom’s social life. If she wasn’t playing cribbage, darts or bingo, she could be found in her ‘office’, usually with a handful of payout tickets. We are grateful to the lovely ladies at bingo who always made sure that Mom was comfy while she played.
Mom loved being a grandmother and Keegan and Eathan loved spending time with her. The word ‘no’ didn’t exist at Grandma’s house and the three of them were partners in all kinds of shenanigans.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Pinawa Hospital and CancerCare for their many kindnesses and genuine care that they gave to Mom and to us.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour. Due to current health restrictions, we accept 2 separate groups of 50 in the chapel and 100 people in the parking lot.
Mom loved bright colours and her sports teams, so please feel free to dress accordingly.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made in Mom’s name to any animal welfare agency, if you desire.

I am so sorry for the passing of this wonderful, wonderful woman. She was always so cheerful and had such a good soul. I love her and I will miss her presence in this messed up world that sure needs more people like her. She was one of a kind that’s for sure.
