I was saddened to hear of Dwayne’s passing earlier this week but after thinking about the Dwayne I knew throughout my childhood my thoughts quickly changed to all the laughs & joyous times we had together. The weekend rock concert trip near Kenora, the weekend motorcycle trip to Binscarth & the many, many motorcycle rides we took together with our friends created memories that often brings a smile to my face.36 years ago Dwayne, with a drivers license suspension convinced me to chauffeur him & than girlfriend Suzette on his Friday night date with the promise of her hot cousin Lise joining us.Well I need to thank you now for steering me to the love of my life that night.I’ll be in Lac Du Bonnet Friday to celebrate your life Dwayne & I know that by now you’ve traded in the 2 wheels from your wheelchair to an iron horse that you’ll be riding daily & like I’ve seen you do many times I’m sure right now your clamping the throttle lock, hopping up & standing straight up on the seat riding down the highway, enjoy the ride you crazy…………………we’ll miss you !!

I have many good memories of Dwayne. Having sleepovers with Diane and Dwayne was always hanging around with us. I remember playing Leaping Letters and Dwayne was making the letters really “leap” and Diane got mad at him and told him to get out of her room. I couldn’t stop laughing.
Fast forward years later and Jake was driving me home so we could get ready to go to the hospital because I was in labour with Jay J and we meet up with Dwayne. Well he and Jake get talking. Then I get a really big contraction and I look at Jake and point to my stomach. Dwayne’s jaw just fell and he said to me, “you aren’t in labour- are you?” And I said yes. Dwayne says to Jake, “Then get going!”
One Sunday afternoon Dwayne stopped by to tell me that he had been diagnosed with MS. We had a really good talk and he remained positive about the whole thing.
Dwayne, you were a good friend and you will be missed. See you on the flip side my friend.
