Rudolph (Rudy) Steinke passed away peacefully at Beausejour Hospital on June 20, 2017 at the age of 89. Rudy was the loving husband of 68 years to Frieda (German) when they were married on May 7, 1949. Beloved father to Glenn (Terry), Darlene (Wayne) Omichinski, Dallen (Sherry), Sharol (Glenn) Collard and Ken. He was the very proud grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 13. He was predeceased by daughter Sharol, his 5 brothers, 4 sisters and parents.
Rudy worked for Rudy Schewe and during this time he went to Red River College to obtain his journeyman certificate in carpentry. He worked for AECL where he made many long-lasting friendships, until poor health forced his retirement. Rudy liked to do the fruit run with his family every fall. He enjoyed visiting his family in BC and the US. He loved his cats, dogs and horses. He spent many hours talking to them. His biggest joy was spending time with his entire family.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held on July 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 403 1st Street N., Beausejour, MB. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rudy’s memory may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
