1941 ~ 2017
Patricia Dawson took her last breath with her family at her side at Beausejour Hospital on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 4:06 in the morning at the age of 75. She was born in Winnipeg at the Women’s Pavillion on July 13, 1941.
She is survived by her son Kevin (Brenda), and his daughters Denee and Danika, son Cameron (Cheryl), brothers Ron Chercoe, and Terry (Lynn) Chercoe and her sister Donna Hlady. She was predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Sophie Chercoe, husband Rene (Joe) Dawson, special friend Joseph Marynewich, brother in-law Frank Hlady and sister in-law Helen Chercoe.
Patricia was a Stay at Home mom who was an excellent cook and baker; canning pickles, making jams, cookies, pies, pizzas and homemade TV diners. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing countless dresses and outfits on her Singer Sewing Machine. The buzzing of the machine was a familiar sound in our home. She enjoyed playing card games, playing bingo, and travelling. She liked to watch the birds and had a number of bird feeders set up so she could view them from the living room couch. She was stricken with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 36. It was a major adjustment for her as she looked for a new equilibrium.
The family would like to thank the staff of Stony Plains, East Gate Lodge and Beausejour Hospital for all their care and compassion. We would like to thank the staff at Beausejour Hospital the night mom passed for their exceptional care and compassion during our mom’s final hours. A special thank you to her special friend Eleanor Voss for all her support. As well as Barb and Al Merkel for taking and being a part of our mom’s life in so many ways.
We’d also like to thank mom’s sister Donna Hlady who was always there throughout mom’s life. She was everything and did everything for mom. We love you Auntie Donna, and so did mom.
A Celebration of Patricia’s life will be held at Tyndall Community Centre on Saturday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

To Kevin, Brenda, Denee and Danika, to Cameron and Cheryl, to my brothers Ron and Terry and Lyn and their families…what can I say?? There aren’t enough words to express my sincere feelings of sadness and loss that I am feeling for all of you. I have lost my sweet sister…my lifelong friend! May you find comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain, and may memories of all the happy times you shared together keep her close in your hearts! I know, for myself, that I have yet one more Guardian Angel! R.I.P. my dear sister!

So very sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. Deepest sympathies to Kevin and Cameron and their families and to Ron, Terry and Donna. Pat sewed many dresses for my Mom and my Sister Marilyn and I. She was exceptionally skilled and creative. She was always kind and will be missed in our family.

My sweet auntie Pat. My godmother. I remember how that sewing machine used to buzz away as she made me barbie clothes. I was the luckiest kid because I had the best dressed barbies in Manitoba! I marvelled at the outfits. That meant the world to me as a child and even still as an adult I reflect fondly on those days. She loved my enthusiasm and kept making me more. She was an amazing cook and I used to love her pizza and baking…sex in a pan was my favourite dessert. Auntie Donna and I were just talking about it. She was a kind soul with a huge heart and as Auntie Donna says, we have a new guardian angel. Love you Auntie Pat. May God bless you in the heavens and beyond. xoxo

To Kevin, Cameron and their families,
My heart goes out to you at this time of great sorrow. I lost a very dear friend and confidant. I use to look forward every day to seeing her, so we could have our daily talk. She was one of a kind, very smart and caring woman. She took great pride talking about her granddaughters who were excelling in everything they did. Her boys were very dear to her, as was her sister Donna. I don’t think there was a day when I didn’t her mentioning all of you. She loved you all dearly.
She will be missed by many. I know that I will be thinking of her daily.
Al and I are sending our condolences to the whole family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
May she rest in peace.
I will miss you Pat.

My sincere condolences to you all! I knew Pat quite well through my mom, Kathy, but also spent years as Pat’s foot care nurse. I tell you, we had some really really good laughs. May her beautiful soul rest in peace.

Jan and I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to Kevin and Cameron and their families and also to Donna who was so close with Pat. Although Pat was my cousin, Kevin was just a year younger than I and we spent a lot of tIme growing up together. Pat always treated us so well no matter what we got ourselves into. She is in a better place. Rest in peace.
