1948 ~ 2016
You left me beautiful memories,
Your love is still my guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You’re always at my side.
Anneke Orme passed away on Saturday, April 16 at the Beausejour Hospital surrounded by her family and friends.
Anneke will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by Arthur Orme, her husband of 45 years. Her daughters Anna Mae (Carlos) Clark, Trudy Orme, grandchildren Juan, Arael, Amy and Alyssa.
Anneke was born June 20, 1948 in Opende, Gronningen, Netherlands. At the age of 3, immigrated to Manitoba with her parents and 7 brothers and sisters. After several years in Manitoba the family moved to a farm in Stratton, Ontario. Farming was hard work but there were many great times of teen dances held at the huge farm house. Anneke made many lifelong friends at this point in her life. Her next move was to Rainy River, Ontario where her parents ran a pool hall and Anneke opened her Beauty Salon upstairs. During this time she met the love of her life Arthur Orme, and on August 22, 1970 they were married. They moved to Emo, Ontario where they raised their two daughters, Anna Mae and Trudy. Anneke’s parents made the move to Emo also to be close but by 1982 Anneke became their caregiver. It is also during this time that Anneke had a battle of her own with breast cancer that she beat. With both parents now gone the Orme family moved to Garson, Manitoba. Anneke with her husband and two girls built a beautiful home. She was extremely proud and loved her home, and her yard. Sitting on her deck with friends and family was such an ultimate delight. Her greatest memory during her failing health was watching her grandchildren planting flowers and running through the sprinkler.
Anneke will always be remembered for her smile, big heart, her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and the greatest love she had for her grandchildren. We were blessed to have such a wonderful loving person in our lives.
Anneke is survived by her sisters Eelkje (Geert) Sienema and Emily (Roy) Dick, brothers Willem (Ann) Boonstra, Gerrit (Eileen) Boonstra, Jan (Patti) Boonstra, sister-in-law Laura Boonstra, brother-in-laws Jakob Froese, Bill Bridges, sister and brother-in-law Janet and Gary Judson, sisters in-law Mavis Izzard and Angie Fraser and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Hendrick (Paka) and Antje (Moeka) Boonstra, Father and Mother-in-law Richard and Amy Orme, sisters Janna Geertien Boonstra, Anneke Jantje Boonstra (1), Marchien DeJong, Janna Froese, Pietje Van Reede, Geertje Bridges, brothers Tiemen Boonstra (1), Tiemen Boonstra (2), brother-in-law Daan Van Reede, Hendrick DeJong, sister and brother-in-law Pat and Clee Lundy, and brothers in-law Frank Izzard and Thomas Fraser.
Thank you to TransX for their understanding, the staff at the Beausejour Hospital and Manitoba Cancer Care for their compassion and care, to her daughter Trudy who cared for her the last 4 years as well as friends and family who came to visit.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Beausejour Hospital Television Fund.
Life is a gift, enjoy the present as she always did with her famous winning smile and red hair.
Happy trails dear.

During those times when I was absorbed in self-pity because of my own medical conditions, I kept thinking of how Anneke continually kept facing the cancer that kept ravaging her body. She never lost that positive outlook. I for one drew strength from her tenacious fight against an illness that would not leave her alone. I had a great admiration for my sister. She never hung her head. For her there was always the hope that tomorrow might be a better day. She has run out of tomorrows; however, during her sixty-seven years on this earth she made a positive difference to and for almost everyone she came in contact with. All of us, especially those close to her, have lost someone very special.
Condolences to Art and the rest of the Orme family from Eileen & Gerrit

Dear Art & Family – our condolences. Anneke was truly a good friend and an amazing lady. She didn’t let anything get her down and put up a brave and gallant fight. We have many great memories of Stratton parties when Anneke kept us all happy with her infectious smile. And trips to Winnipeg in my ’60 Olds were lots of fun when she was along. May God bless you all and let her memories keep you sustained. And God Bless Trudy for her unsefish care and devotion as her Mom’s caregiver. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Shirley & Doug.
