1964 ~ 2016
On Monday, February 1, 2016, at the age of 52, surrounded by family, Dave passed away at the Beausejour Hospital. He was met by his father Charles (Chuck) Reis and father in law Wilfred Mousseau. From above, Dave watches over his wife Deidre, son Daniel and daughter Darsea and the newest addition, little Tinka. He also watches over his mother Fern Reis, brother Rick (Melissa), Mother in law Bernice Mousseau and extended Cremer, Mousseau, Houle and Pompana families.
Dave was born on January 29, 1964 in Athabasca, Alberta. As an infant, his family moved to Beausejour where he attended school. Not one to be still, Dave started working early on his life. He worked at several jobs in many places, including the Beausejour Hospital, Calm Air, Tundra Buggy Tours and Stitco Energy. It was in Churchill that he met his wife Deidre. They moved back to Beausejour some time later, where he worked for the South Beach Casino and Interlake Eastern Health Authority. He also enjoyed his time with the Beausejour Fire Dept. and was an Auxiliary RCMP Member, Beausejour Detachment. With his gentle and easy going manner and quick smile he made many great friends along the way.
Dave was always up for vacations and road trips which included camping trips, attending concerts, pow wows, and Minnesota Vikings games. Even after his diagnosis and through treatment his resilience, determination and optimism was truly inspiring to those around him.
Dave was an honest, hard-working man who did not hesitate to lend a hand to anyone. Over the years he provided many good opportunities for his family. In ceremony, he was given the traditional name of Zhaawan Noodin – Southwind, a name which he was very proud of.
Thank you to all the organizations and individuals who provided services or equipment which allowed Dave to be as independent as he could for the past few years. He truly savoured this time which gave him freedom, dignity and independence.
The family would also like to thank the staff at the Beausejour hospital for the exceptional care he received in his last weeks. Thank you to Beausejour Handi van for the services which allowed Dave to come home for visits. Thank you also to CancerCare for all their kindness, guidance and support. Lastly, thank you to Dr. Van Rensburg for the diligent care he provided to Dave for many years. We will be forever grateful.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, February 6 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 516 Atlantic Avenue, Beausejour.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dave’s name to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.

My deepest sympathies to you all, you won’t know me but I am employed as a nurse at Lac Du Bonnet PCH where Dave was also employed. We had many interesting discussions on our lunch breaks. He was passionate about life and that was evident as he told us about the trips you as a family took and just life in general. May you find comfort in the memories you hold dear, and knowing we have a great God who will also comfort you.
