Johnny, Nancy, Peggy,
In lieu of anything soothing or helpful, I can only say how saddened and sorry I am for OUR loss. Jim was the oldest of our generation of Garnetts. His leadership ignited spirited discussion in our home about a contraversial War. Not everyone
agreed with Jim initially, but I can testify that eventually everyone did, and ackowledged Jim’s courage. The Greatest amoung us are blessed with uncommon foresight and are often misunderstood in their own time.
Rev John Robertson, M. Div.
Jim was as valued colleague and friend, who could be counted on to offer truth and challenge. He was highly regarded amongst ministry personnel in Beausejour, and his strong voice will be missed.

All of our hearts are broken with the loss of this amazing human being that was a part of our very spiritual souls He touched us with his warmth everytime we were together, his guidance with every word and his kindness beyond compare We will miss him with an ache that will not depart. Rest in peace.

We were able to spend some time with Jim at St. Boniface Hospital on the Friday, before his passing. Our hearts were aching as we witnessed the pain that Jim was forced to endure. Jim spent the better part of his life trying to ease the suffering of others, which made it harder to accept his circumstances. We are thankful that his suffering was brief.
More than our Minister, Jim was a close friend whom we will miss. His influence on our lives was always positive. He was profoundly true to his Calling. Words cannot do this gentle soul justice.
Rest in peace, dear friend.
John Wolf
I shared a room with my brother Jim for the first 11 years of my life. We were known to giggle into the wee hours .This was a tradition we shared throughout our lives
Jim helped me to see the teachings of Jesus as a lifestyle . Give Thanks for a life well lived . May his good works continue in the hearts of all he touched till Justice rolls down like a mighty river

Jim played many roles in our lives. We first met Jim as our Minister at Christ Church but he was also a next door neighbour and a dear friend. He has left a significant legacy but the most profound for us is his example of serving the community. Jim always thought of others long before himself and it is our hope that his inspiration lives with us for many years to come.
His master said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant….Enter into the joy of your master.” Matthew 25

Thinking about you today Jim and the many happy times we spent together on the island. Especially remembering the song you wrote for me about Maria, the frog that landed on the kitchen window that evening. We will miss you and you will always be in our hearts.
Love Sherry and Robert.

My brother Jim was the best big brother ever. I feel lucky to call him family. He loved so richly and shared that love so freely. I love the stories that folks are sharing about him. It brings great comfort. Thank you.

I just learned of Jim’s passing having been out of the country this summer so please forgive these belated comments. I am pleased to have known Jim as a friend, mentor, and both as a brother and father in Christ. Jim taught me a lot about forbearance, kindness, the mystery of the faith, and was instrumental in helping me to plumb more deeply the depths of worship. I spoke to Jim on the phone several months ago. If he knew about his illness then he did not let on. This was typical “Jim” – always focused on others. I’m sad to lose my dear friend in this world but know that he has simply gone before me into the fullness of the Communion of the Saints in the Kingdom of our Lord. Bless you Jim!
