1919 ~ 2012
It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of George Gerald Schreyer on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the age of 92.
He was predeceased by his wife Bertha, parents Joe and Caroline Schreyer, stepmother Stella Schreyer, brother Joseph, sisters Mary, Katie and special friend Bernice.
George will be lovingly remembered by his sons Richard (Joanne) and Brian (Bev), grandchildren Todd (Candice), Carrie (Stewart), Pam (Sean) and Craig (Kaitlan), great grandchildren Evan, Emma, Nicholas, Madie, Kaitlyn and Ava, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends. He is also survived by his half sisters Cecilia (Wilbert), Adeline (Howard) and Carol and half brothers Peter (Diane), Edward (Irene) and Lawrence.
George loved to talk to people and had no trouble approaching strangers and striking up a conversation with them. His favorite pastime was tinkering in the shop, creating different things. He would do this for hours on end. Later in his life, he enjoyed going to dances with his special friend Bernice.
The family wishes to thank the Staff of East Gate Lodge in Beausejour where Dad spent the remainder of his life. Your thoughtfulness and caring towards Dad was very much appreciated and will always be remembered.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, October 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour.

We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to George’s family. As young boys, all three of us had the pleasure of shadowing our (Great) Uncle George at Canada Messenger. Often with a pencil behind his ear, and always with a smile on his face, George played a significant role in our transition to adulthood. On some level this was simply done with the use of a notepad, power tools, keys to an unforgettable truck with no steering (good ol’ #14), but most of all he showed us how to keep a love of the day and endless understanding. I would think our most fond memory would be how our grandmother (Kathy) would shine when he visited, which would quickly follow with some lighthearted ribbing. A great example of how family will always mean the world to you, at any stage of life. Regrettably we will be unable to attend the service, but would like to once again extend our condolences and pay our respects to a man we will always remember.
