1935 ~ 2023
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marcel Roy on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the age of 87 at his home in West St. Georges, MB
Marcel will be lovingly remembered by his wife Audrey; son Barry (Karen); grandchildren Nicole (Tyler) and Logan (Jamee); stepson Dean (Kim) and their children Morgan (Kieron) and Graeme (Codi); sisters Mariette, Beatrice and Annette.
Marcel grew up in Hearst, ON with his twelve siblings before putting down roots in Manitoba first living in Mud Falls, then moving to Powerview and finally settling down in St. Georges.
Marcel’s life revolved around being in the outdoors collecting firewood in the bush. At the young age of fourteen he would go to the bush with his beloved horses, who would help him skid the wood he cut out of the bush. Marcel loved his horses so much that it was not uncommon for him to even sleep in the barn with them. His joy for the great outdoors lead him to a dream job with the Abitibi Papermill supplying them with their wood which allowed him to continue being in the bush where he loved to be. When he wasn’t in the bush or with his horses, Marcel enjoyed playing cards, darts and snowmobiling. He groomed snowmobile trails for the Maskwa Club for 22 years, enjoying every minute of it.
Marcel truly loved his family and spending time with his grandkids. He especially enjoyed spending summers at his trailer at Hillside Beach.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ong from CancerCare and Dr. M. Bruneau for their care and compassion they gave Marcel.
As per Marcel’s wishes cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marcel’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba.

I spent some time in bush with Marcel cutting fire wood and grooming for Maskwa club. After every near miss we would have a drink out of his emergency water bottle that never froze in the groomer. Rest in peace and I’ll have a shot of water in your honour
