August 19th, 1951 – November 22nd, 2022
With broken and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mom Rain Buck, on November 22, 2022 with us, Rees and Rikki her daughters, at her side. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Dorothy Erratt. In lieu of a formal service or flowers and if you so wish, a donation to an animal rescue or veterinary hospital of your choice could be made in Rain’s name.
It is said that your whole life flashes in front of you on your way out of this world. And for our mom, Rain, that flash would be vast and full of momentous moments; moments from many different places and with many different people over time. Our mom led a rich and colourful life, from the mountains, rivers, and ocean of BC where she was born, to singing on stage, along with travelling the country on motorcycle, then onto loving people and animals during her lifework at veterinary clinics, to making a home and a family with us (our dad, Ron Buck, sister-in-law Linda Greenhalgh whom passed 04/26/20, and niece Jennifer Girardin).
Momentousness was mom’s gift to this earth, it’s what she gave to others. By her unquestionable strength, sheer magnetism and sparkle, she was able to make you feel as though the world centered on you, that you in fact, mattered. And in a world that is more and more devoid of meaning and gentle kindness, mom’s gift shone ever more bright in those many lives that she touched. And in the same way that the dying have their life flash before them, we that are left behind have our flash of memories too. Ours with mom are rich, many, and diverse, but anchored in love. In that, we take our mom with us through the rest of our journeys, doing what mom did: doing all things with love.

Hello Rees and Rikki,
A very good friend in Winnipeg sent me this message. I am truly sorry for your loss. I knew and worked with your mom at McLeod Vet. in the mid to late 80’s. She became a lovely friend and work mate. May you both find peace and carry her in your hearts.

I am so sorry to hear of Rain’s passing. She was a friend while I lived in Beausejour. One thing I knew about her is that she loved her girls and appreciated your support. I learned more about her through her obit. I am saddened that I didn’t make an effort to stay in touch.

Rain was a special person with a kind heart whose personality sparkled. I have too many fond memories to list, but Rain is a part of so many of my favourites from childhood. Thinking of you, Rees & Rikki, and hoping that you find comfort in knowing how much your mom loved you both.

Dear Rikki and Reece
I’m so sorry that I never met your mum. It’s very hard to lose a parent no matter how old you are. You can be sure that your mum is resting in peace and will be watching over you.

Reese and Rikki,
Thank you for including this wonderful picture of your mom. It is exactly the image that pops into my mind when I think of her. A wonderful smile, captivating personality, a woman of great depth with the quality of a star! I am also so thankful to her for bringing you (Reese and Rikki) both into the world. I worked with Reese during the formative years of my life and she is one of the most incredible women I have come across. So centred, empathetic, and wise!
I am forever grateful for your mom’s gifts to the world. She had a profound impact on so many and she holds a place in all of our hearts.
Love Jillian

Your Mom was indeed a very special lady with amazing strength. Having worked with Rain for many years, I had the joy of seeing her loving those around her and watching that love returned by so many. When she sang, my heart was lifted. And her infectious laugh – simply like no other!
Your Mom adored you both. I pray you find comfort in the many wonderful memories you shared.
Love and condolences

Dear Rees & Rikki
I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a wonderful person. I had the pleasure of working with at the Bjr Animal Hosp. We shared many stories about our lives, and we had some darn good laughs. Her laugh was infectious to say the least. Your mom was a pillar of strength for me during a difficult time. She was so caring, sincere and kind. She gave me a beautiful handmade gift of a poem called Desiderata, which I have to this day, May the two of you find her strength and love within yourselves to carry your through the difficult days ahead and know she is always with you.

So sorry to have heard this news. I kept in touch with Rain through the years and she always talked about how proud she was of “her girls”. She was a good friend.
