It is with regret’s that we hear about the passing of Aunt Margaret. A woman who was a wonderful mother, a wonderful Aunt and a friend to all those about her. She always had a cheerful smile that she met you with on her daily encounters.
She will be sadly missed by family, friends and relatives.
Aunt Margaret was a war bride, who came back with her husband who was serving overseas during WWII, and bravely met all the challenges in raising a wonderful family in a strange new land in Canada.
She had an amazing amount of courage and strength as she toiled day after day to raise her children and care for her husband.
May you rest in peace Aunt Margaret, as we will all follow in your foot steps!

A Tribute to
Our Other “Mum”
In 1976 while still in our early 20’s, Donna and I settled on a small parcel of land next to the Eschuk homestead. Generously Sam and Margaret took us under their wing directing us around obstacles and more than once extricating us from dumb mistakes. They quickly became dear friends, confidants, and life long mentors.
In time, we moved away and sadly our friend Sam passed on far too early. But to this day, returning for visits was like coming home to visit our “other” mum. We were always welcomed with a warm heart and hugs. Her quick wit, wry sense of humour and signature Scottish accent endeared her to us as we caught up on the local colour, reminisced and then headed down tangents of current events.….she was keenly interested in others and was always fully engaged in our conversations regardless of topic.
Marge did not have an easy life as a war bride settling in a foreign country. Raising a family and eking out a farm family livelihood was a fulltime job. She was a centrepiece of the community, always ready to offer a helping hand, while expectantly awaiting the next late night social event.
In her later years Luann’s selfless devotion allowed Marge a final chapter of dignity and joy. The television was no competition for the picture window beside her armchair. Outside she enjoyed a complex of feeders, flowers, birds, and assorted critters playing out an endless drama as the seasons passed. This captivated Marge, grounded her in the natural world, and marked the passage of time. It was her secret refuge.
In the end Marge was resolute and ready to move on. She lived with great humility and humour. She died with simple grace and integrity. She left us a legacy of love and authenticity. We will miss you “Mum”.
