1925 ~ 2020
In the early morning hours on August 21, 2020, Marie Rose Wood passed away peacefully at the Pine Falls Hospital. She was 94 years old.
As a lifelong resident of Manigotagan, Rose was the eldest elder and was well-loved and greatly respected in her small town and surrounding areas. She loved her community and would attend most events that would happen in Manigotagan.
Rose was the mother of nine children. Despite her large family, Rose always made time for family and friends. She had many godchildren and “adopted” children and grandchildren who adored her and affectionately called her Auntie Rose, Grandma Rose, or Granny Rose. She took them as her own and treated them as such. She provided love, support, and guidance and was known for her sometimes funny and witty comments.
Rose was very strong in her Catholic faith all her life, and contributed in many ways to the Catholic Church in Manigotagan. She was very involved in teaching Catechism to the youth in the community, and assisted in church services.
Rose was predeceased by her husband of 66 years Frederick Valentine Wood, and by her son Fred Jr. (Bozo), and 3 infant children. She is survived by her five surviving children, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Abisheva for her time, care, and attentiveness to Rose during her time as her doctor. It is greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Linda Finnbogasson, for her duties and care as Rose’s homecare worker.
Due to COVID regulations, viewing for those who wish to pay their respects will take place Tuesday, August 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the St. Louis Roman Catholic Church in Manigotagan, MB. The family service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with interment in the Catholic Cemetery.

Rose will be missed. Her and Freddie would come to visit mom and dad when I was just a kid and I would always make her laugh. As I grew up, married and left Manigotagan I would always see her at different gatherings and would always make her laugh. Its sad to hear of another Elder leaving the community, Everyone will miss Rose. Condolences to the family
