March 5, 1935 ~ August 13, 2020
Albert passed away peacefully at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home with his children by his side. He is now with his beloved Carol, where he longed to be since her passing in January.
Albert (“Papa”) will be forever remembered and missed by his children Carl & Karen (Laura, Brenlee, Dael), Dan & Jennifer (Makenna, Lilly), Brenda & Mike (Nathan, Melissa, Lindsay, Jenna), Grant & Lori (Tyler, Taylor, Trista) along with 15 great grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
Albert was pre-deceased by Carol, his wife of 59 years, infant grandson Jesse, parents Sven and Anna, and brothers Oscar, Nils, Eric and Harry. He is survived by his three sisters Margit, Diane and Dagmar and brother Herman.
Albert was born and raised on the Nilsson family homestead in Lee River. He quit school at a young age and worked to gain practical experience. After marrying Carol and starting their family, work opportunities took them to Gillam and The Pas. In 1976, he moved his family back home to Lac du Bonnet where he and Carol worked together to start and operate “Albert’s Backhoe” business for over 40 years. His work was his main hobby. Albert was a people-person, enjoyed playing guitar, singing, teasing little kids, telling stories, and travelling with Carol. His family meant everything to him and he loved family gatherings.
Albert always said he had no regrets in his life, and if he could do it all again, he wouldn’t change a thing.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home for their care and compassion for Albert.
A celebration of Albert’s life will be held at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with a private family interment at the Lee River Cemetery immediately following. Due to Covid-19, chapel seating must be reserved for family and close friends. Overflow attendance is available outdoors in the chapel parking lot for up to 100 additional people.
In lieu of cards and/or flowers, donations can be made to Cancercare Manitoba, the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home, or a charity of choice.

I am sorry I can’t be there for your Dad/Papa’s celebration of life. You have all had a rough few years first dealing with your mom’s suffering and then losing your dad so soon after. You have all shown such love and support to both of them. They were both so proud of all of you. I love you all and my heart will be with you all on Friday at 11:00 AM. ❤️❤️
