1933 ~ 2018
In loving memory of Cecil Frederick Dewey, who passed away on September 21, 2018, at the age of 85.
Cecil leaves to mourn his loving wife Sadie; his sons, Mark, Jonathon (Sherry) and their children, Matthew and Shaylyn, and his daughter Sharon (Richard) and their children, Edmund, Beatrice and Marie. He also leaves his brothers, Clifford and Larry (Ellen); and sister Margaret.
He was predeceased by his parents, Louise and Cecil; and four brothers, Les, Ralph, Galpine and Douglas.
Cecil graduated from Apostolic Bible Institute in 1971 and was active in pastoring and assisting in several Manitoba churches and as a home missionary in Sioux Lookout, ON.
He had a great love of reading books, especially the Bible. Revelation 21:4 says “There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
He was Papa to his grandchildren and a friend to all, with a kind and generous personality that reached out to every person he met.
Many thanks to Arborg Personal Care Home and Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall, for your compassionate care.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 2 from 7 – 9 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Ave. E., Beausejour. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, at 1:00 p.m., also at the chapel, with viewing one hour prior.

I’m so very sorry to hear of the passing of such a beloved Uncle. I have many fond memories of visiting his home in Beausejour. Uncle Cecil and Aunt Sadie were always so hospitable and would do anything to help those in need. He truly had a heart for people and for the work of the ministry. Uncle Cecil could start up a conversation with anyone, anywhere and make them feel like their well being truly mattered to him. We also were very blessed to have him in our home. I loved to hear his stories about the family, growing up in Newfoundland and his years in Montreal. His loss will be felt but I know that he has received his Heavenly reward for being such a good and faithful servant. I know that I will see him again.
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 5:8

`May the God of all comfort be with you and give you strength to face today, hope to face tomorrow and peace as you face the future. “The eternal God is our refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms.” (Deuteronomy 33:27)

i remember his laugh the most, he loved to tell me stories about my dad. My mother was his aunt (aunt Louie was her sister) I didn’t know him well but I remember what a kind man he was and he always made me smile with some story whenever I saw him. My condolences to his family

I was happy to hear from Sis Dewey today, and terribly sorry to hear about Bro. Dewey’s passing. You both have meant a lot to me and my family. Sis. Dewey taught me to read and Bro. Dewey always said I would be a preacher someday, and I surely am! Even though I am saddened at the thought of this great man of God leaving, I am also overjoyed that he has gone to receive his reward. So many lives have been touched and changed by your ministry over the years! I would love to be present to show my respect, just know that I am with you in spirit.

Cecil was a wonderful example of giftings to a congregation. While I was still a teen he shepherded our small youth group members, without compensation, to youth rallies and events throughout Southern Ontario. A generous heart and commitment to the Gospel will always be his legacy. Saddened along with the family for this temporary goodbye. Till we meet again. Thanks for keeping a light on, on the porch. See you soon.
