1943 ~ 2018
Herb Weidman, beloved husband of Leona, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Beausejour Hospital. Herb, (Herbie, Dad, Tractor Grandpa, Papa Dear, Pops) passed away way too soon for us.
He is survived by his wife Leona; daughter Rhonda White (children Brandon (Grace, Isobel), Devin and Shayla); sons Kelly (wife Tracy, children Kyle and Richelle) and Barry (wife Corrine and daughter Abby); brother Ted Weidman (Louise); sisters Hilda Pfeifer (Reg) and Irene Steinke; and sisters in-law Alice Weidman and Peggy Weidman.
Above all else, Herb loved God and his family. He dedicated his life to caring for his wife Leona of almost 52 years of marriage. They loved doing everything together, whether it was jumping in the car going for a ride, or sitting side by side on the couch doing puzzles together. Dad took such good care of mom and they always held hands.
Herb built many homes in his lifetime. He loved his work and the people he met. He was self-employed for many years and later worked with Art and Ron. They often joked at the average age between the three of them and how they could outdo a lot of the younger guys. People said Dad was like a monkey the way he crawled around rafters!
Dad and Mom were very instrumental in collecting winter clothing for the needy and homeless.
Dad also recently worked with Sobering Funeral Chapel and with the Citizens On Patrol Program. He finally listened to his kids to “retire” from everything and just enjoy spending time with mom.
Dad, along with mom, loved music and was blessed to form the Gospel music group Misty Rose. Dad wrote many songs. He would write them as they came to him, whether it was at 3 in the morning or while he was at work where he would find a piece of shingle paper and write on the back! They recorded 2 CD’s and held gospel music nights at the church. They were also invited to perform at many functions and festivals over that time.
Dad was known for his teasing and joking around. He always bugged and bugged, whether it was the grandchildren or anyone else he was with. We called Dad’s one liners “Herbisms.” He thought his jokes were so funny, but we would usually just groan, shake our head, or roll our eyes at him! He would often send the silliest text messages to us too. Oh, he wouldn’t quit!
And how he loved his Winnipeg Jets. Kelly and dad would always go back and forth on their disagreements about the team. And it was always the refs to blame! He also enjoyed watching Bomber games, the Blue Jays, and curling. Mom would be in one room watching her tv and dad yelling in the other room at his tv!
We loved you dad with all of our hearts. You were so generous to everyone you met, especially your family. We know you are in a better place. We can’t understand it quite yet, but God obviously had plans for you and that’s why you were taken from us so soon.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the EMS staff for their efforts, and to Dr. Daphne Schmidt for making this difficult time easier.
Thank you to Pastor Don Reimer for your comfort. Also, a special thank you to Libby and staff at Sobering Funeral Chapel for making everything so much easier for the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour.

Leona and Family,
We are terribly saddened at your loss of Herb from this earth. Although we were not close acquaintances, it has been such a privilege to have made friends with you both. We always looked forward in seeing you both in Church when we visited with our daughter Emily and family, while visiting in Beausejour. Herb always made us feel so welcome and it was clearly evident as to what a Christian man that he is. We pray that God gives you understanding and peace, while you grieve.
Our Deepest Sympathy,

We were shocked to hear of Herb’s passing. We can’t quite imagine a world without Herbie and we know you are struggling with that too. It was a joy to hear stories and share times with both you, Herb and Leona. I know this will be different now, but we are certain he is keeping a careful eye on Leona and your family, while God is keeping you all in the palm of his hand.
We love you and will cherish the memories of Herb.

Leona, we can’t imagine what you must be feeling right now, but we want want to extend our deepest sympathies to you and your family. Herb was a special man and we feel so fortunate that he was a part of our lives. He was so quick with a warm greeting and some friendly conversation. He taught us that good neighbours help each other out when needed. What stands out now was his ready smile and always his deep faith in his Lord.
We feel blessed to have known Herb.

Leona and family,
We were truly shocked and still can’t believe that Herb is no longer with us to share a smile and a
story with. We are so fortunate to have met him through the Gospel Music jams and other
musical events, eventually being able to call him our friend. We know his faith and yours was
very strong and hopefully this will help comfort you during this very hard time. There will never
be anyone quite like Herb and he will be greatly missed.

Leona and family,
We were shocked and saddened to hear of Herb’s passing. It’s funny how many people mention his smile, because that is the first thing I think of when I remember him. Such a genuine and warm smile which is fitting considering what genuine and warm people you both are. Every time I drive by 216 3rd street south I remember waking up to the welcome sound of Herb’s snowblower in -28 as he took down the towering walls of snow on either side of our drive way. He hadn’t been asked. He just saw a need and sought to meet it. That’s just who he is. We will never forget that generous nature or his kind smile. He will be sorely missed.

Leona & Family,
I was so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Herbie..my memories go back to walking to and from school together in Glenmoor.
I feel blessed that through this earthly journey that God has had our paths cross and that whenever our paths crossed when we were back visiting in Beausejour..it was very evident of what fine Christians you both are.
Your gospel CD “Jesus Hold my Hand” gives me such peace, comfort and hope and I trust you will draw from your great faith in our Lord.
My sincere sympathy and lifting you all up in prayer.
