1955 ~ 2018
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister on Sunday, February 11 , 2018 at Pinawa Hospital.
She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Nellie, her brother Wesley and sister Erna and brother in-law Garnet.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 14 years Robert, her children Cherie and Bryan (Chrisanne), grandchildren Erik, Alex (Jessie) and Brendan and Chloe. As well, she is survived by her siblings Don (Stephanie), Joe (Gail), Ervin (Maureen), Robert (Wendy) and Ken (Marlene) along with sister in-law Gail.
Lorna was born on January 21, 1955 in Pine Ridge Manitoba which is now known as Birds Hill Park. She was the fourth youngest child in a family of eight. She worked for the University of Winnipeg for 42 years, starting as a cataloger and retiring in October 2015 as a supervisor.
Lorna enjoyed country living at her home just outside of Lac Du Bonnet with her devoted husband Robert alongside their two dogs and two cats.
Lorna had many hobbies and pastimes to keep her busy. She enjoyed reading, baking (especially to appease her husband’s sweet tooth), making perogies and knitting or crocheting beautiful blankets, clothing or toys. She also maintained a huge garden and many flowers and trees on the property.
During the summer’s she also loved to go camping and fishing with her family.
Lorna enjoyed having visitors at the house especially her kids and grandchildren. Many memories were made with bonfires, gardening, taking walks, ski doing and just playing games and having nice talks.
Lorna was a kind, caring and energetic woman. Her laugh was infectious. She always had more than enough love to share and was more than happy to do so.
She will be sadly missed by all those who knew her.
Thank you to the doctors and staff at Pinawa Hospital for the care and compassion they showed towards Lorna.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour. If you have received a blanket or anything special from our Mom feel free to bring it with you so others can see the beautiful creations she made for those she loved.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember when Lorna and I spent an entire day making pyrogies. We were so tired after. Or went to bingo together although we have not seen each for many years she will always be in my heart

We will all remember our very special times with Lorna when we visited and when she came to Nova Scotia. She loved the ocean and everytime we went on day trips she ordered fish, she told me “best tasting fish I ever had”. She was always busy cooking, baking, knitting, fishing and making us laugh everyday. Unfortunately I don’t have a suitcase big enough to bring of all the gifts she made for everyone in NS but we will cherish them forever. My brother Rob will always have his angel watching over him and we all feel very blessed to have had Lorna in our lives. Now her suffering is over RIP Lorna❤

Dear Robert,
The past week has been filled with warm and loving memories – of a warm and loving person.
We thank Lorna for teaching us how to make perogies; sharing your enjoyment of gardening, fishing, walking in the woods; inspiring us to share our own handmade gifts made with thoughtfulness and love; and holdng a special place in our family.

My deepest sympathy to all of Lorna’s family on her far too early passing. I have fond memories of working with Lorna for many years at the UW Library. She was a hard worker, and a fun and caring colleague, and dearly loved her family. She will be missed.
