1929 ~ 2013
Peacefully, on March 9, 2013, with daughter, Diane and family at her bedside, Mom passed away at the PineFallsHospital at the age of 83 years.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters Lorraine(Dave) and Diane(Garry), son Claude(Patti-Jo), grandchildren Ryan(Kelly), Kayla, Brock, Kadie, Rebecca, Chelsey (Jarret), Amber(Kyle), brother in law Oscar(Annette), sisters in law Yvette, Lucie, and Dorothee, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Mom was predeceased by Dad (Raoul), an infant son, sisters Cecile and Marie-Rose, brother Michel, parents Joseph and Anna, father and mother in law Odias and Rose, as well as many brothers and sisters in law, nephews and nieces.
Mom was an active member of her parish working as secretary and volunteering in many areas of church life. In her role with the Catholic Women’s League, she would organize many different church functions like bazaars, bake sales, volunteer and donate at parish funerals. For many years, she worked and later ran the parish bingo to help support the parish.
Mom was an accomplished seamstress where no sewing task would daunt her. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting making many items over the years. It was these things she missed doing in the past year following her stroke.
Our home was always a place where relatives and friends gathered over the years. Many a card party or just plain party was had. Socializing with family and friends was very important to her. She so looked forward to the many visits of family and friends during her extended hospital stay. The family would like to express our sincere thanks to all those who made the time to visit her. Special thanks to Carolyn and Terri. We also want to thank the staff of the PineFallsHospital and Dr. Essa for their compassionate care during Mom’s illness.
A Funeral Mass was held at the Notre Dame du Laus Parish in Powerview, MB on Wednesday, March 13 at 1:00 p.m. Rosary prior at 12:30 pm. Interment took place at St. Georges Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
God saw you were getting tired when a cure was not to be,
So he closed his arms around you and whispered “Come to Me”
In tears we saw you sinking we watched you fade away,
Our hearts were almost broken you fought so hard to stay,
What you suffered you told so few, you did not deserve what you went through.
So he took you in his arms and laid you down to rest,
His garden must be beautiful he only takes the best.
And when we saw you sleeping so peaceful and free from pain,
We could not wish you back to suffer that again.
