November 25, 1942 ~ September 4, 2019
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Poke Prins after a lengthy battle with cancer, a man thought by his family to be indestructible.
He leaves behind his partner of 44 years Gisèle Marion; his children, Barbara Warren, Don Prins, Ed Marion and wife Elaine; and grandson Huey Warren. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Audrey Prins; and his siblings, Renée, Claire, Peter, Alice (Wayne) and Cecil. He will be missed by his surviving siblings Verna Kancylarski, Rita Dillabough, John and Roy Prins.
Poke was born in Dokkum in the Netherlands and immigrated to Selkirk in the 50’s. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, snowmobiler and enjoyed his years grooming the Lee River Snoriders trails. He had many talents and would tackle any project; he was a perfectionist at whatever he undertook. He was always available for advice whether you wanted it or not.
Our thanks go out to Dr. Bruneau and his angels at Pinawa CancerCare. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pinawa CancerCare.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lac du Bonnet Community Centre, Lac du Bonnet, MB.
In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years!
