1931 ~ 2013
Doreen passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 2, 2013 surrounded by her family at Beausejour Hospital. She was born in Chipman, AB.
Doreen was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Annie Sawatski; her sister and brother-in-law Helen and Peter Zazula; and Doreen’s brother and sister-in-law Peter and Irene Sawatski. She was also predeceased by her father and mother-in-law Zygmund and Ann Mamrocha; her in-laws: Joe and Helen Mamrocha, Thomas and Caroline Woligroski, John Garbolsinski, and Edward Mamrocha.
She is survived by and lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years Casmir Mamrocha, her sons Eugene (Donna) and Randy (Florence); grandchildren Kristina (Sam), Casmera and Michael. Doreen is also survived by her in-laws Andrew and Nelli Klym, Betty Mamrocha, Adele Garbolinski, many nieces and nephews, special friend Sheryl Molinski, and numerous other friends.
Casmir and Doreen were pan pals for 11 years before they met. They fell in love and married in Chipman, AB in 1951 and another wedding reception followed at the family homestead in Allegra, MB. Subsequently Doreen farmed alongside Casmir in Allegra for over 60 years.
She was known for her love of gardening and she was an excellent seamstress. After many years on the farm the couple moved into Beausejour where her love of gardening continued. She loved her frequent visits back to the farm. She was active with the Catholic Womens’ League, and volunteered with Togs ‘N Treasures. She loved playing Hola with her grandchildren. She was very involved in her grandchildren’s lives. Some of the activities included playing Hola, going to musical recitals, and swimming lessons. She also enjoyed her many trips with her family and friends. She was known to everyone as “Baba”.
Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour with interment following in Allegra Cemetery. Prayer Service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 7 also at the Chapel.

The family wishes to express their sincere thank you to the paramedics and staff of the Beausejour Hospital, Home Care Nurses, St. Boniface Hospital CancerCare and Ward staff, Selkirk Hospital Chemotherapy Ward, Kim and Lorraine for providing the lunch, and the staff of Sobering Funeral Chapel. We would also like to thank the many friends and relatives that visited and called Mom, which boosted her spirits greatly during her most trying times.
