1921 ~ 2015
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother at the age of 94 at the Pinawa Hospital with her family by her side.
She was predeceased by her husband Jim of 66 years, daughter Carole, parents Alex and Frances Sinclair, in-laws Walter and Haldora Hirst, sister Lundina Kitkowski, brother in-law Bud Hardwick and sons in-law Bud, Bernie and Ignace.
She leaves to mourn her children Walter (Karen), Mae, Richard (Joanne), Charlie (Sally), Joyce (Terry), 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly. She will also be missed by her sisters Dolly and Ingrid (Freddy).
Mom was born in Balsam Bay, MB. As a young teenage girl she moved away to work in Riverton and that was where she met Jim. In 1942 they married and shortly after started their family. In 1954, with 6 children in tow, dad moved the family to Lac du Bonnet.
Mom loved music and was a natural entertainer. She taught herself to play the organ, the accordion, the piano, the fiddle and the mouth organ. She played with a kitchen band at the personal care home and loved every minute.
She enjoyed Monday night bingo and overnight stays at South Beach Casino.
Mom also loved to bake her pound cakes, xmas pudding cakes and her famous buns. The grandkids could not visit without going home with a bag full of little grandma’s buns.
We would like to thank Dr. Garg, the nurses and staff at the Pinawa Hospital for taking great care of our mom.
Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
“PS love you always ELSKAN!”
